EU Ambassadors visit WAPP ICC project construction site

As part of events to mark the Europe Day, a delegation of Ambassadors led by EU Ambassador Sylvia Hartleif paid a site visit to the WAPP ICC project construction on Thursday, May 6, 2021.

As a prelude to this site visit, a courtesy visit to the WAPP Secretariat General Mr. Siengui A. KI was made by Mrs. Sylvia Hartleif on Monday, May 3, 2021. This meeting was marked by the presentation of the institution to the new head of the delegation of the European Union while highlighting the possible needs for funding related to the implementation of the ECOWAS Master Plan for the Development of Regional Power Generation and Transmission Infrastructure.

Funded by the European Union, the ICC (Information and Coordination Center) project is an integral part of the Regional Electricity Market implementation process. It included Zone A (the technical building), which will house the Information and Coordination Center, and Zone B (the administrative building), which will house the WAPP General Secretariat. Also included in the construction, supply and installation of SCADA / EMS / WAMS and MMS / AMR systems for the management of the electrical system and the Electricity Market.
The technical building is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2021 and the administration building by early 2022.
